Prokopios Krikris has considerable experience working as an operations manager, claims executive and later as a claims manager. Prokopios has a commercial (non-lawyer) background combined with legal studies. Apart from claims handling, he guides the commercial departments in drafting and negotiating charter clauses. In addition, he provides training seminars, expert insights and consultancy to various companies on laytime research projects and speed-consumption performance analysis.
Prokopios has been involved in various cases that referred to arbitration under the LMAA Terms relating to speed and performance claims, bunker claims, unsafe ports, off-hires, and laytime disputes.
Prokopios decided to launch his website (www.charterpartydisputes.com) in 2021 to share his knowledge gained from researching LMAA awards and his practical experience negotiating charter party disputes.
He has a solid commercial and legal educational background: BA in Business administration, an MSc in Maritime studies, an LLM in Maritime law (distinction), studied legal principles at the postgraduate level and has obtained CIArb certificates in dispute resolution/ arbitration, along with Lloyds’ certificates in laytime and demurrage, and tanker operations.
