Mr. Punit Oza has over 30 years of experience in Dry Bulk Shipping, holding senior management positions in some leading shipping companies including Precious Shipping, Noble Group & Torvald Klaveness. At Klaveness, after holding senior commercial positions, Punit spearheaded the digital transformation of Klaveness Dry Bulk, standardizing processes, upgrading systems & building competence across the entire organization. Following his stint in Torvald Klaveness, he also served as the Executive Director of Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration, driving transformation & positive changes, combining legal & commercial expertise.
After working in various corporates, Punit now helms his own company, Maritime NXT, Singapore, a platform dedicated to driving the “Next” in Maritime through investing, training, teaching, mentoring, consulting & collaborating in commercial shipping & digital transformation space. He is deeply involved with the maritime tech-startup space and is an angel investor and advisor in Motion Ventures, a VC fund focused on Sustainable Maritime and Supply Chain startups. Punit also sits on the advisory boards of Go Beyond Digital, a risk management solution powered by artificial intelligence & Tathya.Earth, a cutting-edge supply chain transparency solution enabled by analytic satellite imaging.
Punit holds a Masters in Shipping, Trade and Finance from Bayes (previously CASS) Business School, UK and a LLB and Post Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law from University of London. He is an expert witness and a member of the Baltic Expert Witness Association (BEWA), UK.
Punit is a Senior Adjunct Fellow at Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Academy, and an Affiliated Research Fellow & Guest Lecturer at Singapore Management University (SMU) lecturing on “Geopolitical risks & their impact on shipping & trade flows”. Punit is closely associated with BIMCO as a trainer for their courses. He also sits on the advisory board of International Maritime Business Academy (IMBA), India.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and currently the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Branch of the Institute.
